大别山，是红军的故乡，将军的摇篮。自1921年中国共产党诞生到1949年新中国成立，位于湖北、河南、安徽三省边界的大别山区先后分别爆发了黄麻起义、商城起义和六霍起义，孕育了著名的鄂豫皖革命根据地。在长达28年的历史风雨中，无数革命先烈凭借坚定的信仰，坚守大别山，确保革命红旗不倒、薪火相传。用鲜血和生命凝结了以“坚守信念、胸怀全局、团结一心、勇当前锋”为主要内涵的大别山精神。
