Striving to build a key strategic fulcrum for the development of China’s western region in the new era and a comprehensive hub for inland opening up

Chongqing, located in the middle and upper reaches of the Yangtze River, is one of the important node cities along the Yangtze River Economic Belt. Owing to its unique geographical location, it has become a key strategic fulcrum for the development of China’s western region. 

Chongqing’s unique geographical location where two rivers converge has fostered local people’s open mind and pioneering spirit. They are forging ahead with fortitude and endeavor to write a new chapter for the modernization of Chongqing. 

Chongqing has formulated and implemented the “416” strategic plan for scientific and technological innovation, and completed the reorganization of 10 national key laboratories and building 12 new national-level scientific innovation platforms. 

Chongqing has achieved the three-tier interconnection of the digitalized urban operation and governance center.

It has launched 10 typical apps including “Instant Emergency Reporting”, “Perilous Rock and Earthquake Risk Control”, and “Quick Response to People’s Demands”, ensuring the “141” grassroots intelligent governance system covers all towns and sub-districts. 

Chongqing has formulated and implemented the Five-Year Action Plan to Construct the New Western Land-Sea Corridor. 

The new western land-sea corridor has linked to 490 ports in 120 countries and regions around the world. 

The freight trains on the China-Laos-Thailand railway have begun trial operation, with the volume of freight transport in containers increasing by 21% year on year. 

The China-Europe Railway Express (Chengdu and Chongqing) has spanned 110 cities in the Eurasian Continent. 

Chongqing has successfully hosted events such as the Smart China Expo, the Western China International Fair for Investment and Trade, and the Belt and Road Forum for Interconnected Land-Sea Development, and officially established the Center of Chinese and Greek Ancient Civilizations and the Chongqing-Hong Kong Cooperation Conference Mechanism.
