Green Development: China's Action on the Journey towards Carbon Neutrality

Under the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Ecological Civilization, China has included the building of a “Beautiful China” in the goal of becoming a modern socialist country, made a series of major strategic arrangements for ecological progress, encouraging nationwide participation through policy incentives, making the concept of green development deeply rooted in the hearts of the Chinese people. The country is moving towards the vision of carbon neutrality with firm steps, writing a new chapter of harmonious coexistence between humans and nature.

We pursue the goals of peak carbon dioxide emissions and carbon neutrality not under compulsion but of our own accord. As we have entered a new stage of development, there is serious need to achieve these goals, which will help to ease constraints imposed by resources ant the environment and realize sustainable development. We must embrace technological advances, promote transformation and upgrading of the economic structure, meet the people's growing expectation for a beautiful eco-environment, and promote harmony between humanity and nature. All of this derives from the need to take on our responsibility as a major country and build a global community of shared future.

A series of green transformation actions have made skies bluer, mountains greener, and water clearer in China, while demonstrating the country's determination and responsibility to the world in its journey towards carbon neutrality. From the clean energy revolution to ecological conservation, China is interpreting the profound connotation of the idea that “lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets” with practical actions.
