习近平会见马拉维总统查克维拉

新华社北京9月3日电（记者 温馨、刘杨）9月3日上午，国家主席习近平在北京人民大会堂会见来华出席中非合作论坛北京峰会的马拉维总统查克维拉。两国元首宣布，将中马关系提升为战略伙伴关系。

习近平指出，中马建交以来，两国关系平稳健康发展，政治互信牢固，互利合作成果丰硕。中方愿以落实此次中非合作论坛北京峰会成果为契机，推动中马友好合作在新起点上走得更深更实，促进两国共同发展，持续造福两国人民。

习近平强调，中方支持马拉维探索符合自身国情的发展道路，愿同马方分享中国式现代化机遇，助力马拉维国家发展建设。中方愿同马方加强农业、电信、基础设施等领域合作，鼓励中国企业赴马投资。双方要用好马拉维大学孔子学院，促进文化交流和民心相通。中方支持马拉维驻长沙总领馆顺利运行，鼓励双方开展更多地方交流合作。中方也愿同马方加强在国际事务中的协调与配合，维护发展中国家共同利益。

查克维拉表示，每次来到中国都有回家的感觉，感谢中方的热情友好接待。马拉维将中国作为最真诚的朋友。近年来我有幸同习近平主席保持密切交往，引领两国合作取得积极进展。在习近平主席领导下，中国共产党让数亿中国人摆脱贫困。习近平主席提出的共建“一带一路”等重大倡议，为各国实现共同发展繁荣提供了重要机遇。马方坚定奉行一个中国政策，支持中国维护自身核心利益。马方支持加强中非合作论坛机制建设，期待以此次论坛峰会为契机，继续推进共建“一带一路”合作，加强区域互联互通，深化马中友好互利合作。

峰会期间，中马双方将签署花生输华、新闻媒体、发展合作等领域多项双边合作文件。

Chinese, Malawian presidents elevate bilateral ties as they meet in Beijing

BEIJING, Sept. 3 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Xi Jinping on Tuesday met with Malawian President Lazarus Chakwera, who is in Beijing for the 2024 Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC).

The two leaders jointly announced the elevation of bilateral ties to a strategic partnership.

China stands ready to deepen the friendly cooperation with Malawi from the new starting point to promote common development and benefit their people, Xi said.

He said China is willing to share with Malawi opportunities brought by Chinese modernization, strengthen bilateral cooperation in fields such as agriculture, telecommunications and infrastructure, and encourage Chinese enterprises to invest in Malawi.

Chakwera said Malawi regards China as its most sincere friend.

Expressing support for strengthening the FOCAC mechanism, Chakwera said Malawi expects to take the summit as an opportunity to continue advancing Belt and Road cooperation, strengthen regional connectivity and deepen mutually beneficial cooperation with China.

During the summit, the two sides will sign cooperation documents on peanut export to China, news media development, and cooperation in other fields. ■
